Kay Carlson, Campus/Volunteer Director She/Her/Hers

Kay began at The Big Garden as an intern in 2015. Since then, she has fulfilled various roles, and is currently the production manager of The Big Garden's greenhouses and growing spaces. She also serves as the volunteer coordinator and occasionally teaches gardening classes. A life-long love of nature and the outdoors led to her earning her degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Many years working in the food service industry prior to joining The Big Garden sparked an ongoing interest in how current food systems affect public and environmental health.  Outside of work, Kay enjoys hiking, reading, and hanging out with her husband and cat.
