Gardens & Garden-based Programming
The Big Garden began in 2005 with a goal of creating 12 community gardens in Omaha in 3 years. Over ten years later, we have worked with schools, faith communities, and other non-profits to start more than 175 community gardens across Nebraska, Kansas, and Southwest Iowa.
We hold an open application season for new gardens during the winter months. Applicants are selected based on need and our capacity+funding. Priority is given to schools, faith communities, and organizations where we feel we can make the greatest impact.
